• Composed of 5 members (3 yr terms)
• Function:  an appeal may be taken to the ZBOA by any person, firm or corporate officer, department, board or bureau affected by decision of the Building Inspector
• May not alter or change Ordinance or Zoning district classification of any property
• But does have the power to act on matters where this Ordinance provides for an administrative review, interpretation, exception or special approval permit and to authorize a variance
• Requires vote of 4 members and a public hearing for actions to be taken

Past meetings:

08/25/08 - - variance request to install a freestanding sign in front of Lawrence United Methodist Church.  The planned sign exceeded the sign ordinance by size. Variance granted unaminous.

07/17/08 - - variance request to install a freestanding sign in front of the Lawrence District Library.  The planned sign exceeded the sign ordinance by size. Variance granted 3 for, 1 against

11/12/07 - - variance request to allow home at 505 S. Paw to be rebuilt in case of fire.  Present zoning of the property is general business, not allowing the home owner to seek proper home mortgage financing. Variance granted unanimous.
